Do you think so? SLAR stands for Side Looking AIRBORNE Radar. Are you thinking of SONAR? SLAR has all the properties of radar, and capabilities are the same (does not penetrate the earth). It just fires and reads to the side.

They COULD use the seismic charges like paleontologist use to see dino bones (fossils) underground.

I think he was referring to ground penetrating radar, but if I'm correct, from a quick google, it's limited to about 30 feet....
