I wonder how a libertarian (OR a liberal..........not that there's much difference), decides on what is 'ethical.'

How can you come up with ethical standards when there are no moral absolutes?

What we see here are people who are making up the rules as they go along based on their own weak, self-made sense of right and wrong.

It's scary to see so much of it on a conservative website.

They decide based on their needs and wants. If they want the government to confiscate your money because they need it to fund their pet projects then that is both constitutional and ethical.

It doesn't apply to all libertarians, just to non viable libertarians.

I believe in moral absolutes like taxpayers not funding either abortions OR counseling sessions or women wanting to get abortions. BTW I believe abortions should be illegal. Don't forget most "modern" conservatives believe it is OK to fund moral "absolutes" by gouging taxpayers. I don't think taxpayers should fork the bill for things that push my personal social agenda. Thats where Libertarians and "modern" ( read farm bill style GOP) conservatives differ.

What's "right" is what "feels good," the old 60s bankrupt value. Or, libertarians view "bad" as anything which intrudes upon their "freedom" (which is really license) to live their lives in whatever degenerate way they want to live it.

About 16 years ago I flirted with the idea of consciously identifying with the libertarian ideology and read some books by libertarian authors, but I found it to be too self-centered, too morally relativistic, and in extreme forms like we see on this forum, too allied with evil. I consider this form of fanatical libertarianism to be just as much the enemy as the radical hysterical secularism on the left...in fact, there isn't much difference between the two.
