I would not have believed this article until yesterday. I have been studying the immigration issue very carefully for the last 6 years, and I have come to the conclusion the process is anything but American.

I married a Russian lady almost 6 years ago, and in August 2002 we filed to bring her then 23 year old daughter and grandson here, and even though we paid $760 for the visas last year it will take another 4 - 5 years for them to arrive. My wife is a citizen, and as such they are in the First Family Preference.

Yesterday I chatted with the aide of an important member of Congress I have come to know fairly well in the last few years. He said, "I will tell you this off the record, and will not put anything in writing and I will also deny I ever said it. The State Department and DHS meet every month and decide how immigrant visas are to be allocated. The process is arbitrary, and Mexico has been receiving the bulk of the visas even though any one country is supposed to receive at most 7%. The priority date the government gives to those waiting to immigrate legally is simply to keep them from phoning us all the time. They simply have little meaning."

Are you trying to tell me the government is lying to the people? Do you think they're secretly trying to achieve a union between the US and Mexico?

I don't understand people who still defend the government. They are almost totally corrupt in every area.

Who represents the rights of the millions who legally wait to enter this country. I'm sure there are heartbreaking stories out there concerning these people who want to come to America in the proper way as prescribed by our immigration laws, but who never get the chance because of all the illegal trafficking. I would think a Conservative Think Tank might be interested in showing this part of the story that goes under the radar. I can see the commercials now. Just a thought.
