I personally always get non-smoking rooms. The smoking rooms seem to have an "odor" to them that is rather unpleasant.

As a smoker, I do to. I prefer hotels with balconies so that I can step outside and smoke. I smoke only outside on the porch in my apartment for the same reason.

Same with me, as a matter of fact, since my husband doesn't smoke (but doesn't mind if I do), I generally go outside at hotels (given that it isn't a mile long walk) to smoke. I do usually request a smoking room but if it's not available, I wouldn't change my reservations. I also prefer balconies, etc. and only smoke outside at my home.

I am an active smoker, but I also realize that my habit makes everything in an enclosed area, stink.
