It is hard but it is black neighborhoods that I love and I hurt for them. They are afraid to report anything. One woman came on TV and said she lost 6 family members. We are talking major gangs here and what do we have from the Mayor.Don't come to Philadelphia.

Re: scrapple &
Yack! I've never watched sausage being made, and don't ever intend to, but I sure love to eat 'em!
If you really want to yack about scrapple, read this disgusting little vignette on how to make old-fashioned homemade scrapple. (scroll down to the second recipe)
I'm a firm believer that there's some stuff you're just better off not knowing, mostly when it comes to tasty meat products.

Grew up on the farms of both grandfathers.
Stirred the kettles into my teens.
Hog butchering was a yearly tradition.
cooking and pressing lard. ( my arteries are still
thin as needles to this day from eating cracklins.
They never used the stuff in that other recipe.
Just cheek meat , hocks , kidneys and such.
The Amish "ponhaus" (sp) is just a slightly different
recipe. I printed out the better recipe to make at home.
Can't get any good stuff in Pittsburgh like Wrights Liquid
Smoke , Real hog casings, or Tender Quick. Have to drive
165 miles 1 way to center of state to get supplies to make bologna.

Until I retired to upstate Pa.I lived in Philadelphia most of my life, and I know Philly as being one of the most corrupt cities in the USA. It's been a liberal Democratic Party and strong-union town for over 50 years with no political opposition, and like the old saying goes 'absolute power corrupts absolutely', this has proven true. With "the brothers and sisters now running this town" (according to Philly's racist Mayor Street), it can only get worse.

I'm so glad your o.k. We didn't lose power but the wind was so strong I for sure thought we were going to have a tornado.

How did we reach this crisis? Because for too long this town's private and public leadership have been asleep. Now if they could just get others to sleepover too.

Philly had more murders in the early 90s than it did last year. I'm not sure how it will shake out this year.
