Yes, casualty figures are much higher; but the number of U.S. service members who died in the Korean War, pre cease fire treaty, were over 54,000 and in the Vietnam War were around 58,000, which means our death total was over 100,000 in the "Cold War" fighting communist expansion, just counting these two major conflicts.

U.S. had over 100,000 wounded in Korea and over 150,000 wounded in Vietnam.

By contrast the U.S. lost over 400,000 service members in WWII with over 560,000 wounded.
