I've read about Matthew Amorello. He was a GOP state Senator who ran for Congress in 1998.
Right. He's crooked as eighty miles of Boston detours, but I don't know anybody who thinks he's gay. What set DePetro off was Amorello showing up at the funeral of the woman killed by his cupidity and incompetence, dragging his wife -- and, what Matt doesn't leave home without these days, a PR flack.
It was a colossal display of Absence of Class, which will shock no one who knows Amorello. But DePetro's remark wasn't called for either, although the station's reaction is over the top.
Why did the station overreact? Maybe the station manager's queer himself, but I think WRKO is looking for an excuse to can DePetro and bring in someone else, probably Brian Maloney. I bet Maloney is filling in for him... none of the other RKO hosts can match Howie Carr for numbers, and they'd really like to have people listen to RKO in the morning, rather than turn it on when Howie's show kicks off, or for Rush Limbaugh (who leads in to Howie).

In Assachusetts, the Gay State, GOP means Graft Only Politics. It's practiced by both parties, more by the Dems as they greatly outnumber the other.
