"What exactly is Meth?"

Meth is short for methamphetamine, and is not new.

It is a very powerful and long lasting stimulant with a high similar to cocaine, but lasting much longer.

In the 60's we all knew that "Speed Kills" and abuse of this stuff was not too widespread except on the West Coast.

Don't know why it has gotten so popular recently. Really good precursors were available back then which made the production of methamphetamine easier and cleaner, but there wasn't much demand for it.

It's one damn destructive drug. I've seen the results locally, and they are not pretty.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge about this drug. I must be living in a cocoon because, I thought this was a new drug. Its' rather scary that people feel they need this to live. Just don't understand why people do it in the first place. Live is just darn to short to piddle it away doing drugs.

That may be because less potent pharmaceutical amphetamines were pretty readily available. IIRC, the '60's were the heyday of diet pills.
