DOCUMENTARY FILM WILL DESTROY THE MYTH THAT DUBROVNIK WAS DESTROYED BY THE JNA

Professor John Peter Maher of North-East Illinois University was scheduled to testify as a witness at the trial of Slobodan Milosevic. Due to the untimely death of President Milosevic, Professor Maher was robbed of an opportunity to show the world what he witnessed in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik.

In March of 1992, three months after the old city of Dubrovnik (a UNESCO heritage site) was allegedly "destroyed" by JNA artillery fire, Professor Maher visited Dubrovnik with a cameraman. He arrived to find that the old city was almost completely untouched.

Professor Maher documents what little damage he did find, and is able to prove that a substantial portion of the damage that was inflicted on the old city was done by the Croats themselves.

In the documentary Professor Maher will give the evidence that he would have given at the Milosevic trial. The documentary will be produced by the Slobodan Milosevic Freedom Center and distributed over the Internet free of charge.

However, in order to produce the video we need to raise about $1,200 (U.S. dollars) or we need to find a professional cameraman in either Chicago or Serbia who is willing to film the interview with Professor Maher for free.

To make a financial contribution to this project please donate to the Slobodan Milosevic Freedom Center:

If you know of a cameraman who will provide his services and the use of his equipment free of charge please e-mail:

And no "mass graves" found in Kosovo. 2600 bodies in all were found in Kosovo, many of them possibly killed in combat not as part of some massacre. Clinton and the MSM lied, people died. And because we wasted our military on Chirac and Schroeder's war in the Balkans, Al Qaeda went untouched on Clinton's watch and Al Qaeda was at full capacity on 9-11. Thanks Bill.

It might not seem fair but when one shells a city, one should expect that the inhabitants may overstate the damage one caused.

True, it applies both to the inhabitants and the forces fighting Serbs.

But Western media treated war time reports from one side as revealed truth.

Who alleged that Dubrovnik's medieval quarter was destroyed?

Millions of tourists have visited it - you don't need a cameraman.

There's even a E! Channel episode of the "Taradise" travel show in which Tara Reid hangs out in old Dubrovnik with some Croatian pop singer dude who gives her a tour of his favorite night spots and restaurants.

Sounds like this guy is just trying to scrape $1200 together.

Bingo.. that and there is also some effort to somehow try to make Slobo seem like a victim and he wasn't really responsible for a genocide..

But the excuse is that it was destroyed but rebuilt.

This professor, however, was there only a few months after the fighting stopped.

His report and film have been spoken of on the net for years and years. People have queried about where his photos and the video could be seen.

I myself wondered where it was and how it could be found.

I asked "ma bell" (Zoran) on here because he'd told me he corresponded with him at one time. But Zoran is in Iraq and told me he didn't have the contact information memorized, so it would have to wait until spring '07 when he gets home from Iraq.

And the money, it appears would be going to hire a cameraman/interviewer, for he is saying if they could get one to do it free, they don't need the money.

the Slobodan Milosevic Freedom Center

Oh gads...

I'm quite convinced that our media and our government lied about what was going on in the war, and that our Kosovo interaction was completely misguided...but Milosovic was no good guy either. It's like lionizing Tito because he wasn't Stalin. Blech.

Yes but the court needs concrete individual witnesses. Abstract "millions of tourists" do not have legal status.

BTW, it is interesting that most of these millions never associated what they have seen with the falsehood of anti-Serbian propaganda. Human mind words in mysterious ways.

and he wasn't really responsible for a genocide..

First, define Genocide in a sane way...not the U.N.'s "90% of all high school girls are violently raped, sexually assaulted, or unwillingly oggled" definition. Do that, and there was no genocide by the Serbs.

Your other part - about the ridiculous lionization - I agree with.

Maher should have stepped forward during Pavle Strugar's trial - where Dubrovnik was specifically addressed, and Strugar found guilty of shelling the city.

There is also the small matter of Miodrag Jokic, who not only admitted guilt in the shelling, but expressed remorse immediately afterwards back in 1991 to the Croats.

But that's all just inconvenient detail, so by all means, you and your friends send Mr. Maher all the money you can.

But the excuse is that it was destroyed but rebuilt.

I've never heard this from anyone, let alone in an official statement from an NGO.

Who exactly is being prosecuted for the destruction of a city that still exists?

Bingo yourself.

This lame "Milosevic was a sweet, kind patriotic man who loved puppies and bunnies" crap is quite tired.

Yet people, on an ostensibly conservative forum will excuse and even hagiographize this dead Commie scumbag.

This statement is completely off base. Milosevic was indeed kind to animals, he was married to one, so lay off of that crap will ya pal?

Yes but the court needs concrete individual witnesses.

The prosecution is not maintaining that old Dubrovnik no longer exists.

The prosecution is correctly maintaining that after Croatia's declaration of independence, the Communist JNA illegally shelled it.

Which indisputably did happen.

In fact, JRR Tolkien's Croatian translator was killed by one of the shells, which landed in his old Dubrovnik apartment.
