I have heard no explosions thus far today. More encouraging is the traffic outside the hotel, at least ten times what was out yesterday. Businesses are re-opening. But the grocery store is just about picked clean. Food is going to become a problem quickly. Money is not an issue. The ATMs are operating, dispensing both LL and USD. I have a stash of food, water and cash that could last me for a week and buy my way out of town if necessary.
Glad to hear it. :) don't get to excited and keep your head together. :)
Just remember... Great movies are made out of stories such as yours. I'm thinking about Casablanca, of course... Say, you don't suppose you could find some seedy dive in Beirut owned by a shady American named Rick, do you? He might be able to help you get out -- for a price. ;-)
Seriously though, I'll bet you never look at that movie the same way again!
And even more seriously, you and all the other Americans trapped in Beirut are in our prayers and I hope Dubya lights a fire under the incompetent State Dept. soon!
Rebel Yell - -could I suggest that you get yourself over to the suburbs of Jouneih or Kassilik both on the cost about 7 and 3 miles nrth of the city centre respectively. Both areas are heavily Christian and anti Hezbolah.
