Everything has a price. Hitler did want to negotiate (after Dunkirk) but the price would have been: Germany gets mainland Europe and England gets left alone.

That would have been "just for openners." Hitler would have demanded more from Britain -- like basing rights in the Empire, right of access to the Suez Canal (to form junction with the Japanese), etc. Britain would have been Vichy-ized.

Fortunately for us, Chamberlain (Kerry), did not have the final say, but rather Churchill (Bush) did.

There is an interesting book called "The German Generals Speak" which sheds some light on the willingness of the Germans to negotiate with Britain.
