I saw that, but it seems to me to be a slight embellishment from Mr. Vincent, not the President.
I am sure that the story itself is slightly embellished. That does not mean it did not take place, only that the meaning ascribed to it was more profound to Mr. Vincent than to a neutral observer.
This is why "objective" is not something a human being can achieve. This is EXACTLY how Mr. Vincent perceived events. Nothing more, nothing less.

The athiest reference appears to be an assumption on Vincent's part. The story does not say that the President said anything about Putin being an athiest. It appears to be Vincent's description of Putin. I'm as certain as I can be, without having been there, that the President would not have referred to Putin as an athiest in casual conversation.
