sometimes on the stock market stocks go up by a a few cents....I tell you I don't want to see the one hundreth of a dollar gone.
When cents are outlawed, only outlaws will have cents!
They could just round off the total transaction, which would only matter if you are buying stocks not in multiples of five shares.
Until recently stocks went in jumps of 1/8 of a dollar.
i agree, if they remove the penny, it will increase costs across the board and it will only be a short time before they wish to remove the nickel. The penny helps keep inflation in check (ok, maybe only slightly...)
Did you just drop off of a turnip truck? It has only been since 2001 that the stock market went to decimal quotes. For the last few hundred years prior, the smallest unit quoted was 1/16th of a dollar and everyone got along just fine. Now they can quote up to 6 decimal places for OTCBB quotes and 4 decimal places for everything else. Your gasoline prices are still offered at three decimal places at your local gas pumps. How would eliminating the penny change any of that?
