As someone who grew up in California, the Latinos that have "anglicized" are almost uniformly the children and grandchildren of immigrants that arrived in the US before the 60s, and in many cases, arrived in the US before the 30s. The post 1960s Mexican immigrants, and especially the ones who have come after 1980 have largely bought into the "chicano" activist nonsense.
