I need help, and I thought maybe my son could come and work here and support me here in the United States.
Many Americans retire overseas in part because it is CHEAPER to live there. Why does he want to stay in the EXPENSIVE US if he is not working?

I've known people who have retired to Mexico because it is so cheap to buy a huge house there on a beach and hire servants and such. And they all tend to come back to the U.S. after a few years with their tails between their legs. Yes, the dollar goes further and they can get into their home cheaply. But all of the other things inherant with living in a third-world country eventually forces them to leave.
