No leader can make those kinds of promises and people running for President shouldn't try. If this is WW3 we may have great losses but we will make the other guys have more and we will erode their capacity to wage war.

I don't think that means what you think... he is taking about fervor, commitment, dedication.... he's not talking about making a "promise"

He is not saying we won't lose a city. He's saying we have to project the attitude, in word and deed, that we don't intend to lose a city.
