I have always had very serious doubts that the word "Nuts!" was actually the word uttered at Bastonge when the Germans called for the U.S. surrender.

"NUTS!" was the official response to the German ultimatum. The unofficial response by General McAullife was probably more colorful.

How about Truman's response to the reporter who wrote an article on Margaret Truman's piano playing "talents"?

Sanitized for the family papers: "You do that again, and I'll punch you in the nose!"

What really transpired: "You do that again, and I'll bust your balls!"

Say what you will about Harry, he had good command of the King's English as well!
