One puzzle piece, alluded to in our earlier discussion, takes Iran off the board, conventionally, whether they agree or not.
Syria cannot stand without Iran.
Hezbollah cannot stand without Syria.
Topple the central domino and all the rest go by themselves.
Ignore the central pillar, and toppling all the subordinate dominos has no effect.
Help is on the way, at about 33 miles per hour, published.
Why is this so? I'd think Syria would welcome the chance to sever its ties, if it could do so without causing an internal revolt. They seem to be caught uncomfortably in the middle of Israel and Iran.

Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz said on Sunday afternoon that the more advanced Fajar missiles that were fired with a barrage of other rockets at Haifa on Sunday morning, killing eight people, were made in Syria.
Iran funds Hezbollah to the tune of about $100 million per year. But where does Hezbollah train/fester--isn't it mostly in Lebanon and Syria?
It seems like a two-pronged problem: funding and geographical safe harbors. Just thinking out loud.
1. Syria cannot stand without Iran.
2. Hezbollah cannot stand without Syria.
3. Topple the central domino and all the rest go by themselves.
4. Ignore the central pillar, and toppling all the subordinate dominoes has no effect.
5. Help is on the way, at about 33 miles per hour, published. ***
1. TRUE
2. Probably True but they are really creatures of Iran.
3. Not so sure but I agree that Iran has no easy way to fight a ground war in Lebanon. In fact they have no way to do so and so you are right, they need surrogates.
4. Disagree. If Syria sits tight and Iran sits tight and Israel destroys the Hezbollah militia and their arms and chases them back to Syria and helps Lebanon take and keep control of the South then Israel will declare victory. Of course that is a lot of ANDs.
5. I give up. What is moving at 33 MPH?
