"You might be thinking of the racist way some people think of black people..."one drop of black blood, makes one a black person"...I don't know."
As you replied to me, I will answer this, although your subtext and use of the word "racist" implying I may be one is sickening. If a child is born of one black parent and one white one, that child would be considered 1/2 black. They would consider themselves so also. That is not racist, it is obvious. Wesley Clark had one Jewish parent. He pointed this out, and considered himself part "Jewish", using the secular definition of Jewish, not the religious one. You don't know me from an Adam's apple, and I have been one of Israel's greatest supporters, if you would care to look up my comments on threads. Because I said Clark was part Jewish, I was jumped on. I used the word in the secular sense which Clark himself has used.
Now, Sofaman sees the definition from the religious sense only, and he is correct. However, there are many, probably most non-Jews out there that would see Clark as one-half Jewish because his father was a Jew (Clark himself sees it that way). It may be incorrect usage of the word Jewish, but that's the way it is in the real world. End of discussion, if there was any to start with. Too much PC going on here. I do admire, though, your coming to what you think is your friend Sofaman's defense. He was doing fine on his own, but it's good to know one has friends.

Not in Hollywood. They are 100 black!
You keep saying "end of discussion" in your posts, but you never end it. Knock it off and let it go!
please.... I'm not looking to cause anything. Let's just let it go, both us. I'm over it and hope that you are, too.
YOU, flaglady, are correct. Either "sofa" is yanking your chain for the thrills, or he is being as obtuse as a box of rocks.
I did not mean for you to think I was saying you are a racist.
What a "quoted" is a saying I have heard for a long time..and in most cases..between 2 black people.
And, I have heard it in context of a "put down"..that one will never be able to "shed" that drop of blood.
I also did NOT to mean that being Jewish whether in the religious or any other way is something to be ashamed of.
I, too, was referring to the religious..way..but, since I am NOT a Jewish person...and you want to drop it..consider it is dropped.
