That had been their plan all along, and then were told if there were a clear stop in the activity to then try to move north further. They've lived there for several years and have neighbors that they know and trust and who are looking out for them. None of them (the neighbors included) knew there were some bad guys nearby, so they've had some consistent heavy activity in the 1-5 block range from their house. Needless to say they are trying to get further away. They've also had leaflets dropped overhead.

They are out of food and diapers, despite having had a stockpile sufficient for close to a week themselves, and nerves are wearing thin as the bombing is far closer than they anticipated, but neighbors are helping one another out, and swapping needed items to keep people able to all stay put until things calm down and they can get to stores and get more, and then for my loved ones, eventually, hopefully, to get to Beirut somehow, and then get out.

Prayers for them.

However, I can't believe they only had food and diapers for a week and on top of that are out already. What's with people now days who don't know enough to keep a well stocked pantry? Sure, it might not be for a war, but there's always the potential for a job loss or illness that when having a stocked pantry would be one less worry. Surely they know how to fashion diapers out of towels.

There was a report on the TV earlier..that said that Hezbollah puposely put their rocket launchers on top of high rise civilian apartment buildings...thinking that the Israelis wouldn't strike them there...

Well, they guessed wrong..

I feel bad for your friends..and the people in Lebanon..but, it is the terrorists that are putting their lives in danger...IMHO>

Prayers that your loved ones will be safe, mfccinsd.

People who have not lived out of the States do not have a clue as to how scarce some very ordinary supplies are. And that very often there are shortages of those necessities. It isn't as tho one can run over to Walmart.
