The advance team is setting up communications and scouting out safe staging points. I'm resigned to being here for several more days. The Brits also have a carrier group heading this way.
Eight Canadians killed in Israeli airstrike in south Lebanon, six injured
BEIRUT (CP) - Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay says eight Canadians have been killed in an Israeli air raid that hit a Lebanese town on the border with Israel.
MacKay says six other Canadians are in critical condition.
A report quotes Lebanese officials as saying the Canadians were killed at their home in the town of Aitaroun, which abuts the border.
The victims have not been not identified.
TV stations are reporting that the family had gone to Lebanon from Canada to spend the summer holidays in the town.
MacKay also says the government is getting commercial ships in place to evacuate people by sea.

21:30 Jul 16, '06 / 20 Tammuz 5766(IsraelNN.com) Israel Air Force chief Major-General Eliezer Skedy told reporters on Sunday that Israel has used only a fraction of its capabilities in the Re-engagement War against Hizbullah terrorists in Lebanon.
He warned the terror group not to make assumptions about Israeli’s fighting capabilities. “The decisions what to do and with which intensity [to fight] is reserved by the government,” he said, “and I suggest that the other side think about all the alternatives.”
