To: WV Mountain Mama

I wouldn't feel safe in a muslim-built anything. They do have engineers and scientists, but not many. And most of their engineers are petroleum types and geologists, for obvious reasons. The majority of their technical expertise winds up being imported, for those cultures with the money (always from oil).

I think the exceptions, to some extent, are Jordan and Egypt. And probably Turkey.

wouldn't give you 2 cents for Jordan or Egypt. Turkey on the other hand is pretty amazing. Excellent infrastructure. They're pretty jacked up. Roads are excellent with terrific sign posting. The people are hospitable...

It is a secular Islamic nation and a lot more jacked up than, say, Greece.
