Outed CIA Officer Sues Cheney, Libby, Rove By TONI LOCY, AP

WASHINGTON (July 14) - The CIA officer whose identity was leaked to reporters sued Vice President Dick Cheney, his former top aide and presidential adviser Karl Rove on Thursday, accusing them and other White House officials of conspiring to destroy her career.

"As their chief method of punishment, the White House officials destroyed (Plame's) cover by revealing her classified employment with the CIA to reporters," the lawsuit said.

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, Valerie Plame and her husband, Joseph Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador, accused Cheney, Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby of participating in a "whispering campaign" to reveal Plame's CIA identity and punish Wilson for criticizing the Bush administration's motives in Iraq.

Several news organizations wrote about Plame after syndicated columnist Robert Novak named her in a column on July 14, 2003. Novak's column appeared eight days after Wilson alleged in an opinion piece in The New York Times that the administration had twisted prewar intelligence on Iraq to justify going to war.

The CIA had sent Wilson to Niger in early 2002 to determine whether there was any truth to reports that Saddam Hussein's government had tried to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger to make a nuclear weapon. Wilson discounted the reports, but the allegation nevertheless wound up in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union address.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Rove, said, "Without even having had a chance to review the complaint, it is clear that the allegations are absolutely and utterly without merit."

The lawsuit accuses Cheney, Libby, Rove and 10 unnamed administration officials or political operatives of putting the Wilsons and their children's lives at risk by exposing Plame.

FOX news keeps showing a photograph of Wilson and Plame walking out of a meeting they had yesterday with the democrat caucus. John Scott opined that he wondered if this was an effort in concert with the democrat leadership with Wilson/Plame to try to keep this front and center just to keep the quesitn public. This certainly fits with MO of democrats...can't win elections so they fall back on the courts.

That is exactly what it is. It is a concerted effort of the dems and Joe and Valerie are no doubt being compensated well for their playacting.

And playacting it is. Nobody believes their B.S. Not the hyperventilating news organization propagandists. Not Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame. Not Patrick Fitzgerald. Not anyone with a brain who is paying attention.

Thank you for the ping, Howlin. Clearly the Plame case is an artificial construct for the purposes of sliming the current administration and the threat/act of suing over the speciously named 'exposure' is a democrat strategy to continue trying to create negatives toward the administration and by inference Republicans in general. In short, the democraps have one strategy, create doubt in the public's mind toward Republican leadership ... this because the bastard anti-american, anti-military democrat leadership has zero ideas for improving anything. It is truly a macro example of their decades old program, to create equality (or vacuum), lower the best to average or less, because in such a mediocre or less environment democrats can become empowered due to the lack of attention by the true sovereigns, the 'we the people' of this Republic. I'm learning to actually loathe the democrat political leadership and their henchgoons in the media. They need to be isolated into soemthing akin to an Alzheimer patient ward, where they are fed and cared for but given zero trust to act on their own.

It could complicate things for somebody like Libby. If you have actually been indicted then it probably in your best interest to just shut up.

Administration officials are under severe pressure not to claim a fifth amendment privilege against self-incrimination. Libby needs to not help the prosecutors any further by making statements that might contradict anything else he might have already testified.

Forcing Libby to take the fifth may be the goal of filing this suit. Then the MSM can ask "What does he have to hide" rather than consider the Fifth Amendment as vital to freedom as the First.

It makes one wonder what Bush and Rove have in mind.

I recall during the 2000 election cycle, that Bush was being portrayed as inarticulate and weak.

It was obvious that Gore's handlers were responding to this and attempted to portray Gore as the alpha-male to Bush's omega performance.

Unfortunately for Gore, he "mis-underestimated" Bush and wandered too close to Bush while Bush was speaking during one of the debates. He did this very purposefully to enlarge the space he was controlling at the expense of Bush.

Bush's timing could not have been better. At just the right instant Bush stopped speaking and stared directly at Gore. Gore instinctively knew that he was out of bounds. The incident made Gore look quite foolish.

Bush, perhaps with Rove's guidance, seems to have a knack for not peaking too soon. He seems to value the fact that focussing on achievements or gaining in popularity when there is nothing at stake is energy mis-focussed.

The two parties have their base constituencies. The trick is to get the attention of the 'moderates' who vote, but get it at just the right timing for the election process. I'm worried that the administration is not going to focus upon the congressional balance of power in time to prevent the exceedingly dangerous democraps from regaining control of the House and perhaps the Senate so poorly run by court jester Frist.

If Bush's re-election were at stake, I could see waiting until the last minute, but that doesn't work with localized congressional elections since people toddle along going in and out of attention based upon media spittle and advertising, much of which is actually false but inveigling. Our local situation (Tennessee) with Corker v Bryant (vying for the Pubby nomination while Republicans in general are being spat upon by the leftist media and the president's handlers aren't dealing adequately with the smear campaigns) is a case in point ... the democrat criminal enterprise of rep Ford from Memphis may end up looking like a reasonable alternative come November, and he certainly is not a reasonabale alternative to either man.

Which do you think are the several most serious examples of this? Is it the Libby indictment? Is it the claim that the Iraq war was unjustified and is going poorly?

I think the trend is that the MSM is less and less believed as time goes on. I expect an accelerating collapse due to their increasing desperation. Similar things are happening to the DNC. Bush's popularity ratings may be low, but there are a lot of people like myself who won't talk to the pollsters.

I wouldn't let the shrillness of the MSM be mistaken for effectiveness.

What does the average voter believe will happen with Iraq and US national security if the Dems take over? Every time they are put to the task, the Dems vote to support the war. There is much talk that Hillary has triangulated herself into unelectability as far as the Presidency goes.

I don't think the average Dem can be looking forward to either Kerry or Gore running again. What will bring the Dems to the polls this November? I read an article recently which claimed that voter apathy on the part of one party or the other tends to determine the election results.

And this quote blows the lawsuit out of the water "Whatever sense of career loss she has – we don’t talk about it much – her time is taken up by the responsibilities of raising 6-year-old twins.

Thanks - You're right - I loved it!

Thank you, Howlin. Post !2 is indeed very interesting.

I do appreciate that everyone's trying to maintain "gravitas" over this Plame matter; when in fact, we all know there's a desperate attempt to reignite the Democratic Party via playing fox and the henhouse using the rhubarb of "who knew, when!" lol.!!.

The wilsons, like others they associate with, still haven't figured out their Pandora's box of dirty tricks has no wings and is sitting, rotting, under 6 feet of dirt and with NO American flag gracing the coffin.

"And I'm sure that Plame and Wilson will soon have a book out, which will sell like lead balloons."

It's all about the book. Plame and Wilson have a multi million dollar deal with Simon and Schuster for their non story. The Law suit doesn't have a chance on legal grounds but this latest bit of free publicity will help book sales.
