Outed CIA Officer Sues Cheney, Libby, Rove By TONI LOCY, AP
WASHINGTON (July 14) - The CIA officer whose identity was leaked to reporters sued Vice President Dick Cheney, his former top aide and presidential adviser Karl Rove on Thursday, accusing them and other White House officials of conspiring to destroy her career.
"As their chief method of punishment, the White House officials destroyed (Plame's) cover by revealing her classified employment with the CIA to reporters," the lawsuit said.
In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, Valerie Plame and her husband, Joseph Wilson, a former U.S. ambassador, accused Cheney, Rove and I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby of participating in a "whispering campaign" to reveal Plame's CIA identity and punish Wilson for criticizing the Bush administration's motives in Iraq.
Several news organizations wrote about Plame after syndicated columnist Robert Novak named her in a column on July 14, 2003. Novak's column appeared eight days after Wilson alleged in an opinion piece in The New York Times that the administration had twisted prewar intelligence on Iraq to justify going to war.
The CIA had sent Wilson to Niger in early 2002 to determine whether there was any truth to reports that Saddam Hussein's government had tried to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger to make a nuclear weapon. Wilson discounted the reports, but the allegation nevertheless wound up in President Bush's 2003 State of the Union address.
Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Rove, said, "Without even having had a chance to review the complaint, it is clear that the allegations are absolutely and utterly without merit."
The lawsuit accuses Cheney, Libby, Rove and 10 unnamed administration officials or political operatives of putting the Wilsons and their children's lives at risk by exposing Plame.

Just saw the clip again on Fox. John Scott was talking to Robert Novak. He said the wilsons were leaving a dim luncheon - did not say where the luncheon was.
That is where Novak has said he got her name.

FOX news keeps showing a photograph of Wilson and Plame walking out of a meeting they had yesterday with the democrat caucus. John Scott opined that he wondered if this was an effort in concert with the democrat leadership with Wilson/Plame to try to keep this front and center just to keep the quesitn public. This certainly fits with MO of democrats...can't win elections so they fall back on the courts.

36 major news organizations and professional reporters' groups (including CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, Reuters, The Associated Press, The Tribune Company, The Washington Post, The New York Press Club and The White House Corespondents) insisted that "no crime" had been committed in the "Plame Leak" case because, among other things, Valerie Plame's identity had previously been disclosed to both the Russians and the Cubans!

No, the Who's Who item listing gave her name. Others knew his wife worked at the CIA. By putting two and two together, Novak got the answer of four.

This is such a scam but the DUmmies will fall for it yet again.
I think this is the stupidest thing ever. First, isn't it obvious by now that the Novak-leaker was Richard Armitage? Bloggers have checked the spacing of redacted names and I think it's great that the Bush-hating former chief-of-staff to Colin Powell was the man at the center of all of this.
Second, there was no crime here and I can't see where Plame can argue any damages, especially since her activities aren't exactly Emily Post. I'm sure somewhere deep in the bowels of the CIA rulebooks are something about nepotism.

I believe they are counting on discovery to get VP Cheney to take the stand.
In the world of government organizations...you work for one boss...one agency. You take orders from that agency. For the wife who was the chief and manager over the tasking....to select and order the husband to go...meant that Joe actually worked for the CIA. Joe may deny this all he wants....but he had only one bosss...and apparently that was via the CIA....and as stupid as it sounds...his wife was somewhere in this entire tasking. I can't think of another receipe like this...that would end in anything but a mess. Whenever you involve a husband and wife...its usually a screwed-up situation.
Maybe that was their point all along. You know, Scooter's actions don't make sense, unless you attribute to him the motivation of not wanting his boss to appear before Fitz. Then it makes perfect sense.
I guess getting the VP on the stand would be some sort of moonbat fantasy. And they might get a friendly judge, but who's going to allow this to continue while Fitz is still continuing his unending investigation?

The moonbat fantasy part is too true. I don't, however, believe there is any law preventing a civil case from going forward while a criminal suit is ongoing.
