For over a year I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out who is the puppet master behind the CIA/State Department effort to torpedo Bush. First I thought the scheme was hatched by a CIA contingent which included Plame and that Wilson was the willing dupe.

Then I did an about-face and figured it must have been a State initiated scheme with Wilson at the heart of the cabal, and he used his conveniently placed wife at CIA to help make the "assignment" to Niger happen.

I am now slowly coming to the conclusion, however, that BOTH Wilson and Plame are the willing dupes of a group of much more devious people. Wilson and Plame are lightweights - - neither of those people are rocket surgeons, that's for sure. Wilson is the true buffoon here, and Plame is wondering what the heck did she get herself into? I think she can't sell her book (actually, Wilson's book with her name on it) because she won't spill the beans, the dirt, the juicy stuff. And she won't squawk because she still has a basic sense of loyalty to her image of what the CIA is supposed to be, ie., an intel operation working on behalf of America's national security rather than the political smear machine.

I believe that Wilson was launched by people at State, and those people at State are the wizards behind the curtain. Their mission is to do the dirty work that somebody like Madeline Albright would appreciate. Wilson and Plame were the perfect foils.

I am just waiting for the day that Plame wakes up and gives her idiot husband the heave-ho.
