Putin has managed to save a Russian economy on the brink of bankruptcy, (hey the trains might actually be on time now), unfortunately he choose to do this with an authoritarian state hand. A few years ago Russia was on the brink of full bankruptcy and was probably losing over 1,000,000 in population annually. Now their economy has rebounded and their emigration rate has slowed to 700,000 loss annually according to Putin. Looks like a lot of Russians citizens got out while the getting was good.

Yes, they did get out. Many Russians and Ukranians are now living here in Redmond, WA. A lot came over to work at microsoft and other technology companies. And surprise, surprise, they don't want to move back to Russia and are bringing over their parents and other family members as well.
