Anti-smoking groups are planning to increase the pressure on the movie industry to get actors to quit lighting up on the silver screen.

Anti-tobacco activists worldwide plan to march Thursday from the Washington Convention Center to Motion Picture Association of America headquarters and call on the MPAA to take action to reduce smoking in the movies, including requiring an R rating for any movies with a non-historical depiction of smoking.

The march and protest by various anti-smoking groups convening here for the World Conference on Tobacco or Health will follow the release of a study by the nonprofit, anti-smoking group the American Legacy Foundation about the prevalence of smoking in movies popular with youth.

The report, which examines smoking in the movies from 1996-2004, is expected to be critical of the movie industry.

Yes indeed... you have to think like them.

• They were naked and made love --- I like that and it's fun, it should be G so everyone can see how wonderful life can be.
• He was disemboweled --- Oh gross, that's a PG.
• Wow, a bullet through the head --- such senseless violence from guns needs to be a XXX so we can keep people from seeing them and then wipe the evil guns from the face of the earth.
• So what if you think they sweared a lot... that's how me and my friends talk. --- that should be G, because kids need to learn how to get around in this world, right??.
• Can you believe that... he smoked a cigarette. I hate cigarette smoke. --- Please make it at least R, we have to protect the children.
