I think under the circumstances, I'll give him a pass on pretty much anything he says.
You don't have the same stressors he has by a long shot.
Hezbollah is a marionette of Syria and Iran, so fixed wing is a possibility.
The purpose of getting a shortwave radio is to get evacuation instructions, not to listen to the news.
Very interesting stories.
I hope someday you'll write this all down for your grandkids.
Another thing is you can't move by car as I said in my other post. Then remain were you are as long as you can, get your hands on a flashlight and an American Flag, if and when the Israelis take the high ground around you, go to the roof during the daylight hours, take your flashlight and use three short brust, followed by one long one and another short brust of three, then wave your American Flag, trust me they will see you within three minutes, once they secure the city they will come to get you, this is the best way to keep your building from being targeted and let them know an American is within the city.
Worse places:
New Orleans, after Katrina, in the Super Dome.
Interesting point about the diversionary tactics through their proxy. Unfortunately, their turning up the volume means that Little Kim will need to "act" even louder to get the attention back on NK. Meanwhile, India is looking hard ak Pakistan concerning the train terrorism. Sooner or later, 2-million sunblock will become a precious commodity.
But this time, THINK before you post.
i was refering to the general area and the politics/danger inherent there.....with that said.....my reply came across much harsher than i intended....my apologies.....stay safe!
Or downtown Washington D.C. Stay safe!!!!
If you were working with any residents of BEirut, they might perhaps have bomb shelters in their homes/grounds. Can you call them?
An American contractor friend did that in Kuwait when it was under fire.
Hey, TB, please address your advice directly to rebel_yell2, it is he that is trapped there, not me. But thanks for posting it!
see post #132. I think TBN knows what he's talking about.
I am for real if he has his ID Papers in hand and approaches them with palms up, he will be just fine. The troops will shout direction to him, I would approach them shirtless as well.
Dayam! There's always a FReeper who knows any little bit of info!
Always good advice...
But please, for everyones' sakes, leave your pants on.
"they will set up and execute evacuation plans for stranded Americans"
"Execute" is the operative word. All embassies have detailed evac plans at all times. It's already done.
Evacs are a last ditch situation. Rebel_yell, make sure you're on a warden's list or reachable by the embassy if at all possible. The embassy's Wardens message says register here, if you're not already:
http://travelregistration.state.gov
http://beirut.usembassy.gov/lebanon/WardenMsg071306.html
Don't count on some sort of immediate evac ("calvary coming over the hill"), they'll wait until it's absolutely necessary, and not a minute before.
It looks like it's getting ugly over there.
