Things are heating up in Mexico too. Check out some of the threads on what's going on there with respect to the election and Obragore. He's not giving up.

I think the border patrol may have mace and a white flag? Maybe even a taser but I think that might be a stretch.

I'd settle for Blackjack Pershing right now.

That's sort of my point. Americans OUT GUNNED? Disgraceful! Give the boys some weapons.

Besides, I thought the National Guard was there now...Oh wait, they're only armed to do paperwork.

As you were.

I've heard automatic gunfire in Donna on several occasions. Of course, New year's eve or Christmas in Reynosa looks a bit like the first days of the air campaign against Iraq. Red and green tracers. Tres chic.

It's just a violent damned place. I got the hell out years ago, and never looked back. It's a shame too, because a lot of really good people live down there on both sides of the river.

Law enforcement in The Valley needs to invest in Ma Deuces (.50 cal machine guns)and A-10s. Let's be blunt... there isn't any real border down there.

A lot of Mexican troops carry HK-91s, and they are 7.62 rounds, much more effective than the 5.56 in the M16..

US Border Patrol and US LE are HIGHLY discouraged from returning fire near the border. In fact SOP is for them to escape, and evade. Yes, they are actually told to hide. This is due to fear of an "International Incident" by politicians up the food chain. This has been procedure for so long, all the bad guys are well aware of it.

I don't think they're authorized to even carry and defend themselves with a peashooter.

The Border Patrol isn't outgunned. It just doesn't have the proper attitude in regards to border enforcement.

I have a feeling our guys would be more than happy to shoot back. These SOPs most likely come from higher higher.
