You said it. My Canadian in-laws were thrilled to adopt a Downs' baby (he's 22 now). My wife and I have adopted two children, and though both are healthy, we made the commitment before the birth and were prepared to accept the consequences.

The authoress is also exagerrating Trisomy X. You can go to sites run by such women, and they seem high functioning to me. Heck, the condition usually isn't even detected for years.
