In my evolution from a befuddled teenager to a conservative young adult, one of the last dogmas of my school/liberal parents I jettisoned was the blind, unfocused worship of the environment through environmentalism. There is a difference between environmentalism and conservationism (same root as conservative). The latter involves practical, thoughtfulm generally individual measures to ensure the preservation of civilization and nature together. The former is an unbending ideology that is more about glorying in one's own self-righteousness the helping either the Earth or anything/anyone dwelling upon it.

"[Environmentalism is] an unbending ideology that is more about glorying in one's own self-righteousness the helping either the Earth or anything/anyone dwelling upon it."
