Ringholz said Yates was delusional the day of the drownings and did not know her actions were wrong, even though she called 911 and knew she would be arrested.

She met the Texas legal standard of sanity because of exactly that.

To all

"Delusions cannot be willed away," Ringholz said."

I don't know if this is a true statement.
John Nash seemed to have accomplished this.

...but he said other tests and safeguards as part of the extensive two-day evaluation indicated she was not faking.

And neither do I. She is in need of lifelong psychotherapy.

Has anyone ever seen an explanation about why Dietz testified to the existence of a non-existent episode of Law & Order? And why, pray tell, would anyone want to hear testimony from him AGAIN, since he proved so completely unreliable in the first trial?

Personally, I think our legal system is not much saner than Andrea Yates. Why the he!! are Texas taxpayers footing the bill for not one, but TWO exhaustive beating-a-dead-horse trials seeking to determine if this utterly insane woman "meets the Texas legal definition of insanity"? Who the he!! CARES? She is obviously profoundly mentally ill and has been for many, many years, and is a danger to herself and others, and must never be let out of a secure psych hospital. The colossal amounts of money being spent on this idiotic debate over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, would be MUCH better spent on efforts to prevent such incidents.
