The social life on the Left is truly amazing, providing one can produce evidence, or a reasonable facsimile, that one is really concerned, or 'cares' about things like saving baby seals, providing free abortions, saving the environment, honoring Left Wingers such as university presidents, Bill Clinton, etc. ad nauseam. In DC, the NGOs and not-for-profits throw themselves so many parties, luncheons, receptions, openings, conferences, that if one gets on the right lists (for which there are consultants) one could literally be at the events 24/7.

And no, you can't go for the free eats and drinks. They have gatekeepers who can spot a true believer, which we ain't. The circle of self-congratulation of the Left is a thing of wonder. Your Left wingers would sell their mothers for acceptance by these people at these events ... and they often do.
