China is actually crticizing Japan, not N. Korea.

Why we have pinned so many hopes on the Chinese communit party to help us is a mystery.

I don't know why the UN backs off at the hint of a veto. Make China veto and go on record for doing nothing. I would have liked to see that over Iraq too.

The only thing that will control NK and its protectors is when we announce the NK program is a threat to our security and will result in military action. That they will respect. This they do not. In fact, we are beginning to look like fools while the threat increases.

The UN is worthless and has become a playground for China and Russia.

It doesn't really matter anyway.

The US has said that if North Korea simply returns to the six party talks, then a resoultion with sanctions would be dropped. And North Korea are hinting today that they'll do just that.

Will all be forgotten about in a few days.

Obviously, STERN LANGUAGE is called for...in typical UN fashion, of course.

If THAT doesn't work.......a mean letter is needed.

China is calling Japan's bluff. They don't think the Japanese will re-militarize.

Actually, I suspect that the Taiwanese will test an a-bomb before the Japanese.

But not by Japan. The Chinese are amazingly stupid on this. They are going to militarize a nation with technical know how that is second to none and the money to finance it. It does China no good to antagonize a country that they are financially dependent upon just to prop up a dictator that they can use as a proxy to stick a finger in our eye.

To flush them out... this is a perfect way to accomplish it too. It will also put Russia on the spot as well.

Bush is going to solve this before he is out of office. It just takes time. Bush knows what he is doing.

I don't know why the UN backs off at the hint of a veto.
The whole UN is very dangerous to our nation.
Imagine this: The UN passes a unilateral civilian disarmament plan. We do not agree but since the rest of the world is disarmed, they pass a resolution mandating that our government collect our privately owned firearms.
We resist and China, Russia, France, North Korea, etc. all send military forces to enforce the UN mandate.

No sir, we should have never set the precedent of enforcing UN "Mandates".

Cordially,
GE

I would say you would have to know the Chinese full intentions over Taiwan and the entire region to call them stupid on this. Their is more then meets the eye here on NK. NK keeps our eyes and resources off other Chinese problems of human rights violations and their military build-up off the straights of Taiwan, their ever growing presence in Mexico & South America etc.

NK is a stalking horse for the Chicoms. The threat of a veto tells us all we need to know, if we force China into a box then we lose some of our ability to maneuver them in other ways. China is militarizing at an alarming rate, they are becoming an economic powerhouse, we cannot stop them but we must try to guide in a positive direction.

Yes, they'll probably wait a few months or maybe a year or two and then do it again.

They've waited since 1998 after the last one, and the result of the last test was the six party talks.
