Every parent is part cop and part judge, but they are also a number of much more pleasant roles. I would rather feel more like a teacher, mentor, role model, etc - but when your kid is repeatedly lying to your face, they've broken trust and there is consequences. How you find out about it really doesn't make a difference. Whether it's a tracking device, a phone call from another parent, a speeding ticket in the mail, or if you catch them in a lie yourself, it's a big problem.

I'm in agreement with with your basic tenet. But tracking devices is just plain irrational. How did parents raise their children before GPS tracking devices were available? Hmmmm?

I can see a bunch of FReepers flipping open their Orwell Model Mark VI tracking device and entering little Johnies social security number.

I support parents keeping an eye on their kids. I don't support parents putting an electronic tracking device on their kids and getting them conditioned to an outside entity monitoring their every move. What's so hard to understand about that? Value freedom, and take the consequences for your actions. Where do we disagree? We have to teach kids to have freedom and use it responsibly.

I was an only child with protective parents. I leaned boundries. I want other kids to have the same opportunity.
