I respect your opinion. I simply do not get the impression that you have any respect whatsoever for the beliefs of nearly three-quarters of the souls currently on the planet that are not Christians. Do you feel they are all doomed to eternal damnation?
We ARE talking faith here. Totally unprovable, nonscientific and highly personal. What you hold dear is total crap to somebody else. Those who don't agree with you are not necessarily liberal. I don't consider you the final arbiter of secular or religious conservative values, just as you don't look to me.
Am I right in my beliefs? I certainly hope so.
Could I be wrong? Possibly.
Could you be wrong? Are you secure enough to admit the possibility?
We are in a post-modern culture that begs for tolerance for all points of view and eschews belief in absolute truth. But is that right? Is there no truth that transcends human thought? (Is there no gravity unless we believe in it?) Should we be the victims of cultural groupthink? I'm OK, You're OK groupthink?
I cannot convince you, nor will I try to convince you that my Christian worldview, as determined by study of God's word, is right. The only thing I can do is point you to Scripture and ask that you study it yourself with an open mind, and see how God leads you.
You continue to mistake my confidence in God Himself with confidence in myself and my opinions.........and that is problematic, but common in a tolerate-all-views-as-equal society.
Incidentally, my continued reference to leftist philosophy and thought is the result of my understanding of what has gone on in academia in the past decades. Academia........which includes the fields of science, history, philosophy and political science.......is controlled by the far left. Academic institutions are not places where one can formulate opinions objectively, but rather places where one is brainwashed by the leftist control of those institutions........and that includes the now valueless, Godless field of scientific study.
And one of the main goals of the left is to remove God from every aspect of our culture, and to worship the god of tolerance, and the supremacy of man.
It is obvious from this discussion, that they have had some success, even among otherwise conservative individuals.
