The people who go through it obviously think it is. Personally, I would not know, since I wasn't interested in having children even by the old-fashioned method. The drive some people have to go through all of this to give birth is foreign to me. But as I said, I have not heard of a politician suicidal enough to suggest banning IVF.

I have a few hypothetical questions which should help shed light on where you stand regarding using fertilized eggs as medical therapies. I

f you had a child who was dying from a disease which could be cured where would you draw the line? If you could donate an organ to help save the child even though it might very well kill you would you do it (most would say yes)? If you could donate some skin cells which could be used to create a new organ would you (most would obviously say yes)? If you had to donate an egg cell from your ovaries to save the child's life would you? If you had to donate an egg that would require fertilization to save the child would you?

I realize these are hypotheticals and they are more cut and dry than real life. The only real tough call is the last question. If you knew for sure that a fertilized egg would save the life of your current child most parents would have a hard time saying no even knowing they would be ending a potential life to do so.
