High school kids get paid pretty good wages these days, even for grocery store jobs. Gone are the days of cheap high school labor.

My son took a summer job and I was amazed at the wage. He took a job with an intercom company. Had no skills in the trade, but learned quickly. Still got paid close to $10 per hour to start and extra money if he had to spend more than 30 minutes in an attic.

Another friend's teenager is working as a home helper to some elderly folks and making 10 bucks an hour.

Kids that want jobs can get them, there's no shortage of jobs for teenagers in our part of Florida anyway.

My 14 year old would love a job, and I would like him to start out with a job such as this. It's a good lesson on the value of education.
