I remember back in the early 1970's, my brother got his ear pierced and my Father didn't talk to him for weeks. He was so disappointed in him.

Yeah, and I frequently see OLD men out here with 2 pierced ears, and long gray pony tails. Weird....

I pierced my own ears in 1972 and my father was very disappointed in me. When my hippy brother pierced his ear a few years later, it really damaged his relationship with my father. A woman with pierced ears was one thing, but a man with a pierced ear was simply unacceptable.
