Kayden Dorman BARBARA DAVIDSON/DMN Body piercer Kayden Dorman disagrees with the Arlington school district's new dress code: "If they're allowing people to wear earrings, they should allow them to wear bigger earrings."
Karrick Senegar says rapping and grills go together like cars and tires.
That's why the 16-year-old aspiring rapper and Arlington student spent $200 in April on the mouth jewelry known as a grill. But the Sam Houston High School junior won't be able to flash his six-tooth white-gold diamond-cut grill around campus come August.
The Arlington school district has changed its dress code to ban the trendy mouth jewelry. Also added to the unacceptable list are tall tees oversized shirts that hang to the knees and the practice of stretching out earlobes, sometimes called gauging.

Yup. Makes any kind of dress code really difficult to enforce.

My son's elementary has banned camoflaged clothing. I support them. Schools should not be run like a democracy, the students shouldn't complain about "rights".
I wonder if the adminstration can even recognize the difference between hunting camoflage and that used by the military, though.
It ain't attractive on a young, tight body as far as I'm concerned.
A woman's body is a work of art. Tattoos are a desecration.

I sure would! With all the places he has to hang them, there's no way they'd get lost!
LOL!! We watch "Inked" and laugh at the tattoos. One of the jokes is they'll have to open wrinkles to see the whole thing years from now.
It's sad to see people looking like a wall full of graffiti and beliveing that it's "attractive".
Wait until you're 50.
Super-attractive, let me tell you.
Last year, it was a female student who got into a catfight and got her dangly belly-button ring/decoration yanked out. Three months' worth of antibiotics, and actual plastic surgery on her tummy to make the button look right again.
Kids are just stupid.
It is fine to think less of him, and if he realizes you do, just tell him that he thinks less of himself or he would not rely on the flawed hand of a dirtbag to try to "pretty-up" what was made by the Hand of God.
He might not understand that so just say, he looked a lot better without them. Then hang a shower curtain on his nipple rings.
Be sure to tip him very well BEFORE you hand him your keys, or he might secure them in a "special" place.

Kids are just stupid.
Always have been. Thank God the majority grow up. lol.
Can crotchgrills be far behind?
"who would hire one of these walking freak shows their only job garbage collection or toilet cleaning"
I have been shocked since returning to the US at the number of freaks with a face-full of shrapnel working in customer service.
Well, I can certainly understand that. It keeps them from accidentally bumping into each other. :=)
"An angry individualism without worthwhile individuality.
Theodore Dalrymple."
Thanks for pointing that out. Great essay.
How often, these days, does one have the opportunity to read a sentence like, "It is a wearisome business trying to prove from first epistemological principles in every instance of minor public misconduct that it is morally wrong, especially when every failure to make the case is a justification for further such misconduct"?
There are different behaviors for different places. Kids need to learn this to get along in the world.
In his younger and wilder days, my husband tells a story about getting into a fight with a guy with his nipples pierced and a chain running between them.
Hubby thought it was pretty considerate of him to have a 'handle' to grab onto during the fight......
until they ripped out.
LOL!~
I tell our daughters that there's a reason 'rap' rhymes with 'crap'.
