McCain, Giuliani to campaign for Topinka

Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and U.S. Sen. John McCain will travel to Illinois in the next week to stump for Republican gubernatorial candidate Judy Baar Topinka, her campaign said Sunday.

Giuliani, who was Time magazine's "Man of the Year" for 2001 and has been mentioned as a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, is scheduled to appear Tuesday at a campaign event in Bolingbrook in Will County.

McCain, a Republican from Arizona, is slated to appear with Topinka at a campaign event in Fairview Heights near St. Louis on Saturday.

"Our campaign is gaining momentum and I appreciate Rudy Giuliani and Sen. McCain lending their support to help our campaign to get Illinois moving in the right direction," Topinka said in a statement.

Giuliani and McCain aren't the only high-profile Republicans to try and help Topinka oust Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Last week, President Bush traveled to Chicago and helped Topinka raise $1.2 million during a posh $500-a-plate fundraiser at the Drake Hotel.

I am SO glad she appreciates McCain and Rudy...after her aide said she wished President Bush would sneak in, in the middle of the night...

I hope she doesn't raise any money, the witch.

Nope...it was really said...or something like that...I paraphrased.

That was the reason that one of the reporters that asked questions, asked President Bush how he feels knowing that then candidate he is fundraising for would rather he come in the middle of the night..

He laughed and said something like, "Well, I'm here, and it is NOON"...

LOL, Can't wait for the primaries - Although Rudy is no Ronny, Rudy will knock McPain out of the race, thankfully, in the first round.

We'll go from there.

I think the RINOs are trying to survive for 2008.

They are in as much trouble as democrats.

But, this could be a win which could once again turn Illin away from the Durbanites. Rudy's campaigning will be the real urgency to change from Blag. The Prez campaigned and made million and one half for her campaign. Ill. has to start somewhere to elect Pubs, Rino's or not. Ill. has not gone Pub for many years now so this has to start. Remember, the Pub guv was a crook and it is needed now to start over again.
