What's really amazing is that: it doesn't seem to matter (1) where Americans are on the issues and (2) what is happening with the GOP. The Dems, all by themselves, with their total lack of leadership, can foul everything up amyway. They can't get ahead in politics no matter what. It's pretty amazing.

I have long thought that adults who share a household -- not necessarily in a sexual relationship, but perhaps elderly men or women who are close friends, or college students still romming together, or whatever -- should have legal rights under law if in fact they both want those rights (like the right to visit the person in the hospital. etc.). But I just don't think gay marriage is something we will ever see in this country. In other countries, yes, but not here. It is really a losing issue for Democrats.
