Rubbish, as in idiot, stupid, moron, your ideas should be in the can, that rubbish. The word is used far more in England than we would use the other three words, but in the states, the meaning is the same.

I believe a simple, "according to so and so of motor racing journalism fame, Juan Pablo Montoya has not quite measured up to what the journalists, not Mr Montoya, have said about his career", without the misleading "rubbish".

After the bump at Indy, maybe NASCAR is the best place for him. Being the second worse interview after Kimi, in NASCAR I'm sure he will be number one, 'you know'.

"Rubbish, as in idiot, stupid, moron"

Exactly as I was saying, we would not use 'rubbish' as a synonym for any of those. In the context I was using it it would mean nothing more than 'hasn't lived up to expectations'.

Agreed, however that is not the perception in the states. It is seen as an indiscriminate slur, and unnecessary in Internet conversation.

I wonder if they will put him into the 'can do no wrong' category that Junior and Harvic seem to inhabit and that gave Jeffie a pass this week despite his being on probation.

I'm seriously thinking of limiting my race ticket funding to dirt tracks, not too interested in watching a Chevy/TRD series next year.

(WHO ever came up with "TRD" in the first place?)

In an update on this, following Montoya's announcement the McLaren team have released him from his contract immediately and will replace him for the rest of the F1 season with Pedro de La Rosa.
