Reminds me of the time that the Chief Civil Judge of a very large metropolitan city in South America asked me if there was still slavery in the South.

I said where on earth did you get that idea.

He replied, from watching the movie Mississippi Burning.

Hollywood impacts foreigners views of America much more than President Bush and it is usually an adverse impact.

That's an interesting point. I cannot tell you how many immigrants and visitors of a certain age I've met who wanted to come to America because of -- get this! -- Bay Watch. The show, in my opinion, was unwatchable. But in some odd way, the very poor quality of the writing made it perfect for translation in foreign markets.

More recently, I've met young people who visit or immigrate because of Snoop Dogg. Don't ask me, I don't get it either.

I'd also remind you that during the Ukrainian uprising a couple years ago, the protest song played continually was a hip-hop song written by some Ukrainian kid called Together We Are Many.

American popular culture is loved around the world, especially hip-hop -- probably because it annoys parents.
