WHY am I NOT surprised?
Well, just a tad surprised it wasn't China. Some how they have something at stake here too. Both, Russia and China do not want sanctions on Iran. It's Iraq all over again ... any news on France?

Good question.
Wonder if the French have a hand in this too? And Germany?
Remember Iraq when France Germany, China and Russia were dead against going to war with Iraq because of outstanding contracts.

Nothing recent per a quick search.

Anyone who would offer North Korea assistance in developing and/or protecting nuclear weapons technology would give a hand grenade to a baby in the crib.

It is important to remember that Russia is not a European nation. It is an oriental despotism that has never been trusted by Europeans, and for good reason. Its promises are not worth a bucket of warm spit, and its political alliances have, and do now, favor the totalitarians.

Didn't Russian President PUTA the other day say he and Russia are not enemies of the US?

When are we going to stop screwing around pretending that the Russians grew character as soon as the Berlin Wall came down?? We are still dealing with the same smarmy characters that we supposedly vanquished in the Cold War.

I know Russia is not our friend. What I don't understand is why. Would it not be much more to their advantage to be our friend? Other than the substantial but limited profits in selling arms and nuke technology to the third world, what do they lose?

It is important to remember that Russia is not a European nation. It is an oriental despotism that has never been trusted by Europeans, and for good reason. Its promises are not worth a bucket of warm spit, and its political alliances have, and do now, favor the totalitarians. I was watching a history show on the tele recently that covered the fall of Berlin. It showed the internal German perspective. There was a short speech given by one of the Nazi Generals. He was trying to rally citizens to defend Berlin. What was interesting was that after he referred to the 'West' as the English, he called the Russians, 'Mongols'.
Perhaps Hungary got its name from the invading Hun Hordes from the east.

"Any attack by North Korea that involves nuclear weapons will be considered to be an attack by the Russian Federation. I am authorizing American special forces to hunt down and bring Aleksei Grigoriev to justice." /wishful thinking

The day is coming when it is not going to be the middle east that we are worried about. Look for a Russian/Asian alliance aimed at wiping us out.

Russia is not our allie. Russia is not our friend. And Russia is not to be trusted. The leader of Russia vowed to crush us (Kruschev) and nothing has changed.

U.S. Senator Richard Lugar has been sending billions of dollars to Russia to dismantle old Soviet WMDs so they don't get into the hands of the terrorists. Hmm, maybe Lugar should pull his head out of his ass and look at what Russia is doing with Iran and North Korea, not to mention China.

The Russians are fools if they think that NK won't sell a nuke to the Chechnyan Islamofcists fore th right price.
Ans then it will be used on Russia -- not us.

Putin and commies at the Kremlin keep NK proped up because it's a living breathing flashback of the good ol' days and is one of their proxy war fronts against the US and western europe. Putin must get all weepy when he watches videos of this:
