Well-connected public figures report that they have been told recently by Rudolph Giuliani that, as of now, he intends to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.
The former mayor of New York was on top of last month's national Gallup poll measuring presidential preferences by registered Republicans, with 29 percent. Sen. John McCain's 24 percent was second, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich third at 8 percent. National polls all year have shown Giuliani running either first or second to McCain, with the rest of the presidential possibilities far behind.
Republican insiders respond to these numbers by saying rank-and-file GOP voters will abandon Giuliani once they realize his position on abortion, gay rights and gun control. Party strategists calculate that if he actually runs, he must change on at least one of these issues.

Well you really don't know who anyone will appoint until they become president. There are no guarantees with any president. How many times did Bush do something that irked us all. How many times did Reagan. We will never have a perfect president. I think Rudy will appoint conservative judges. Just a gut feeling.
I would buy the "classical liberal" argument for Rudy if he weren't a gun grabber.
well I hope you're right, because I think he'd be great at foreign policy (better than Bush because he is a better speaker which helps a lot to rally the country)
Theres a difference, that quinnipiac poll is an actual poll versus a straw poll. THe actual poll is running of of name recognition. The straw poll that i pointed out is mostly bloggers who are actually informed about the candidates. BIg difference.
Yes that is true. But Allen was also right behind him. You forget one other thing, the georgia straw poll was a hundred or so people at most. The Blogosphere straw poll is roughly 15-20k. Much larger sample and much larger geographic region, i suspect this straw poll means alot more.
One thing to note about the blogosphere straw poll, while rudy always used to run slightly ahead of allen (1-3 points), over the last year allen has eventually overtook him and is now beating him by about 6 points.
She has to say that. If she even hinted that she was interested, everything she did, as Secretary of State, the MSM would deem political.
This July 4, 2006 article by Glenn Kessel of WAPO (I know, it's WAPO, but check it out.)might encourage you:
When Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced that the administration was willing to join negotiations on Irans nuclear program, she did not go to the drab State Department briefing room. Instead, in full view of the television cameras, she strolled about 50 feet to the microphones set up in the middle of the vast and ornate Benjamin Franklin Room, evoking a visual of the president walking through the White House to the East Room for a prime-time news conference.
Ohhhh yeah; shes running. You might want to go to www.4condi.com for periodic updates; especially the CondiBlog.
Well we can only wait and see what happens. I am looking forward to the 2008 elections. Regardless whomever wins the Republican nomination will get my vote.
I'd say the same, except i will never vote for john mccain.
I probably will not either. I just don't think I could bring myself to do that. I have a feeling if God forbid McCain wins the primary - Lindsey Graham will be his VP pick. I could not stomach the two of them in the White House.
