I am aware of many internal dangers, but at the top of my list is people not aware we need to stick together and not let our personal differences be known by and exploitable by the external enemies.

Too late for that, I'm afraid. Subversion is well along and needs to be addressed---if freedom is to survive in the United States.

The problem is present on both ends of the political spectrum.

There has always been a deep vein of rugged individualism in this country that is wary of government control, especially centralized government control. When the country was founded there were many who were decidedly not Federalists.

This vein is so deep that anybody who is in authority in the federal government is almost automatically their enemy, even in times of war. And any federal government program is probably evil in some respect if not all. These are not people you can depend on to take a bullet for the Commander-in-Chief.

At the other end of the spectrum you have those who are so much against The American Way that they won't even let Superman say the phrase in a fantasy movie. They believe it their right to unquestioned freedom to do whatever they want and are against any government regulation of moral behavior and civil behavior.

They so much want no accountability for their actions that they even insist that everyone else pay for the consequences of their actions, including giving them free quality health care, free housing and food, income protection, job insurance, free education for themselves and their children and free baby sitting, free vacations, free and luxurious retirement, and the right to have no job and still have all of life's luxuries.

To them socialism and communism seem much preferable to The American Way, which of course is illogical because their personal thoughts and behavior would be regulated even more in such a state. But whoever said these people were logical?

To them The American Way equates with evil corporations and businesspeople (who gave us a country with unprecedented wealth and conveniences and comforts), but all they see is raping of natural resources and despoiling the environment and payola to politicians and looting of retirement funds and "exploitation" of labor.

In times of war, they decide who to support based on who the socialist and communist countries are supporting, as they identify with worldwide socialism and communism as systems that care about "the people," putting aside the annoying fact that "the people" are often worse off in most of these countries, or will be in another couple decades after the pyramid scheme runs its course.

So, in my view, I wouldn't count on either end of the political spectrum. Both will stab the President in the back during wartime.
