N. Korea blocked radio signals 2 days before missile launch: report
(Kyodo) _ North Korea had blocked part of military radio and changed electronic signals two days before it test-fired the Taepodong-2 long-range missile, leading Japan and the United States to raise alert level early, the Sankei Shimbun reported Saturday in its online edition. On Tuesday, a day before the launch, North Korea also cordoned off a triangular area in the Sea of Japan, a move Japan and the United States took as signs of an imminent missile firing, the report said.
Citing several intelligence sources in Japan and the United States, the report said the two countries detected changes in radio signals through data collected by the EP-3 scout plane of the Maritime Self-Defense Force and other sources.
While the two countries secretly convened over the potential missile-firing, the proximity of the cordoned area from the North Korean shore -- about several hundred kilometers -- led them to strongly suspect that the missile would be of shorter range, such as the Rodong ballistic missile, the land-to-ship Silkworm missile, or a Scud missile, the report said.
The sources also said the Taepodong-2 was damaged immediately after the launch, underscoring that the test-firing was a failure. In addition, three of the six other missiles fired Wednesday landed outside the cordoned area, indicating their low precision level, the report said.
Lets examine the real Kim. The guy was sent off with special "trainers" as a kid. Whatever he wanted...he got. His chief interest in life by age 20? X-rated videos...making them. Oh, he made various videos but his obcession was x-rated type. He has some interest in the arts but in terms of management or technology...this guy is a zero. If there is a management problem...he does the old Saddam trick...bring the party in, and execute them in front of people to ensure everyone knows who screwed up. If the next rocket doesn't work successfully...count out one less engineer. Public appearances? Oh, he makes them but he never says a word. In fact...there are only one or two occassions ever that he spoke on national TV (unlike our buddy Castro...this guy doesn't talk). Travel? If he goes anywhere...its by car or train. He has an absolute fear of flying. He is not your run-of-the-mill dictator...most of which utilize the national media and put out speeches and do 1-hour propaganda talks every week. Nope, this guy is one of a kind.
I very much concur.
Nevertheless, he's a very dangerous 'one of a kind' imho.
I realize he's probably a puppet on a string to the puppet masters but they must have some feelings of him being more than a bit of a loose canon.
L
I hope so.
However, so many folks have had dreams and visions of the next world war being started by him . . . it sounds to me like the puppet masters have scheduled him for the first spear into the mammoth's kneejoint.
They must consider him very expendable, too--but on their schedule per their script.
He's not half the badass his father was, he knows it, we know it and he knows we know it. As one of our CIA guys said "The old man, he played rough; sent a team to assassinate the entire cabinet of the south, shot down an airliner....". His dad had brass balls 'dear leader' is a spoiled wimp by comparison and he knows the world knows it.
The first time the public heard Hirohito's voice on radio was when he announced that Japan had lost the War. He's like an oriental potentate, one must not cast one's eyes upon his person. Sheesh, who does he think he is, Hillary Clinton or something.
"It's a joke that this little clown has gotten so many people up in arms. The man is hated in his own country and if we wanted too we could wipe them out in a matter of days."
And still, this episode is getting part of the blame for latest rise in oil/gas prices.Thats a crock.
