It's everywhere. I used to work for a very large hotel franchise system, and no joke, something like 40% of our franchisees were named Patel. It's hell for the database folks, that's for sure.

Well, the database folks are probably now located in Bombay or Calcutta so they get to handle it.

Ha! That's probably true. When I was there, I outsourced my own department to India. I preferred working with them. I wanted to be the customer, and I wanted to get it at an affordable price. It was a love fest between me and my Hindus. I still get emails from some of them, and I've been out of the business for a while now.

As a director, I had no real leverage against employees. It was too much of a hassle to try to get rid of someone. By outsourcing, you had much more control. I thought that having a little bit of the team inside, and some of the labor-intensive parts outside, the company got the best of both worlds. But I hated that crap and am infinitely thankful to have nothing to do with it now.
