Might be a strong deterrent to car theft.

Well, they could add an RFID unit to the license plate
you already have to have. Wouldn't matter what vehicle
you have, if it drives and has a plate, it can be tracked.

London, Singapore, HK tax road use. doesn't sound so unreasonable to me, as long as the unit is used only for
assessing the road tax. We already have toll roads.

Actually, now that I think about it - isn't there aleady a 'stealth' device now built into every car that can record your movements?

Doesn't OnStar do that? How else would they know where to send the police when your airbag deploys?
